What About Those Chains?

Acts 12:1-11 / John 8:36 (NKJV)

Introduction:

Sadly, we have developed a religious industry whose machinery runs smoothly without the need of the Holy Spirit…

 I.              The Reality of Chains (Acts 12:1)

What often holds us back is “cultural religion”, that is, our blind devotion to the way we were raised in church and the atmosphere we experienced every Sunday.

• Real revival comes when people get dissatisfied with what is and begin to yearn deeply for what could be!

 II.           The Release from Chains (Acts 12:6)

God can send divine illumination to dispel our confusion and bewilderment.

• God can send an angel to release the shackles of our minds.

 III.           Freedom on the Inside (Acts 2:8)

Where does spiritual liberty begin?

• Ultimately, it begins with the activity of God toward us…
• As for our part, real freedom always begins on the inside…

 IV.           Freedom Bursting Out (Acts 12:9-11)

Peter’s life did not end with that escape.

• Peter’s story did not end with that escape.
• This is exactly what God wants for us:
  • Liberty
  • Freedom
  • Escapingthe chains of formalism and traditionalism to walk in the light of His glorious liberty.
  • Active involvement in advancing the Kingdom.
