                                                               Gentle Giants

                                                            Galatians 5:22-5:23

I. LIVE OUT THE DEFINITION OF GENTLENESS.

“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.” Colossians 3:12-14.

"Now the man Moses was very humble, more than all men who were on the face of the earth.” Numbers 12:3

II. GENTLENESS MUST BE DEMONSTRATED.

“Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls” Matthew 11:29
“He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.” Isaiah 53:7

“Tell ye the daughter of Sion, Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, meek, and sitting upon an ass, and a colt the foal of an ass.”  Matthew 21:5

III. GENTLENESS MUST BE DIRECTED.

  1. Seek It:

“Seek ye the LORD, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek

righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the LORD’S

     anger.” Zephaniah 2:3

  2. Put It On:

“Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness,

humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; Forbearing one another, and forgiving

one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also

     do ye.” Colossians 3:12-13

  3. Receive the Word:

“Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with

meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.” James 1:21

  4. Answer in gentleness:

“But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to

every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:”

      I Peter 3:15
